The Daily Spam Report 11/7: An Homage to “Fletch”

FletchFor some reason lately, I’ve been getting lots of emails (see yesterday’s Spam Report) assuming I have any say over the money here at News 3. I don’t. I’m a lowly reporter, protozoa if you will on the journalism food chain.

When I saw this email this morning asking about bearing rollers for a sailing block, I immediately thought of this scene with Chevy Chase in the 1985 classic, “Fletch.”

Then, I quickly realized I have no idea what a bearing roller for a sailing block would be and thus, I should likely delete this email.

I should point out this is not a scam, in my opinion. This is a real company that appears to be making efforts to expand its business outside of its headquarters in China. How I landed on their prospective sales list, I haven’t a clue, but if I were to respond to their note (which I won’t), I would recommend they have a translator clean up some of their grammar.

Probably had to do with ball bearings. It’s all ball bearings these days, no?

So, the moral of today’s Spam Report is that spam email can make you laugh even when you get so much of it you want to cry. Just delete it if you don’t want it in the future.

Take care,
